Go to all the seminars, read all the books, learn more for the sake of your children. because the less knowledge you have, the less information you have for them and the more knowledge you have, the more information you have for them. 2Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. Genesis 11 [31]One day Terah took his son Abram, his daughter-in-law Sarai (his son Abram’s wife), and his grandson Lot (his son Haran’s child) and moved away from Ur of the Chaldeans. He was headed for the land of Canaan, but they stopped at Haran and settled there. Genesis 12:1,6-7 [1]The lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. [6]Abram traveled through the land as far as Shechem. There he set up camp beside the oak of Moreh. At that time, the area was inhabited by Canaanites. [7]Then the lord appeared to Abram and said, “I will give this land to your descendants.” And Abram built an altar there and dedicated it to the lord, who had appeared to him. Terah, the father of Abraham saw the vision God had for his son Abraham, which made him try to fulfill it, but he could not, so he prepared him for it, by drawing him closer to it. When it was time, God unveiled the vision to Abraham. He ...

Some people may contradict our teaching, but these are the wholesome teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. These teachings promote a godly life. Anyone who teaches something different is arrogant and lacks understanding. Such a person has an unhealthy desire to quibble over the meaning of words. This stirs up arguments ending in jealousy, division, slander, and evil suspicions. These people always cause trouble. Their minds are corrupt, and they have turned their backs on the truth. To them, a show of godliness is just a way to become wealthy. Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And som...

Are You Following a Mirage? “Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life….”(John 6:27 NIV) The self-life is a dead end. Unfortunately, most people concentrate on how they can meet their own desires and needs and give little thought to their own eternal destinies or the eternal destinies of others. When we labor for the food that endures to eternal life, we become more heavenly minded and earthly sensitive. We realize we have been left in this world to serve the interests of God. We begin to join others who are in the process of bringing their lives into conformance with God’s will. As we do this, God empowers us to serve him and others, bringing us a life of fulfillment. Following the self-life and the pursuit of more and more never satisfies one for long. It is a mirage that ultimately leads to self-destruction. Paul said, “For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” (Phil. 1:21, NKJV). He was a follower of Jesus Christ. We h...

Fish Hard! Life is Short! Jesus Christ came to “…purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.” (Titus 2:14 NKJV) The above sign hit me between the eyes when I first saw it at a dock where many boats left daily to go fishing. It brings to mind many possible spiritual applications Jesus taught that are so relevant for today. In Titus 2:14, Paul states clearly we have been redeemed as a special people to be zealous for doing good works. This passage helps define the purpose for why we have been left in this world. Jesus came to finish the work that God, the Father, had given him to do. In fact, Scripture says that zeal for his Father’s house would consume him. Jesus also knew his time was limited. There was a sense of urgency about his life and his limited time in this world. This urgent pattern for living should characterize us. I want to “FISH HARD” during the time God has given me to live. With each passing day, we become aware that life is truly short. Lif...

I realized that no one can discover everything God is doing under the sun. Not even the wisest people discover everything, no matter what they claim. History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new. Sometimes people say, “Here is something new!” But actually it is old; nothing is ever truly new. Ecclesiastes 11:9-10 [9]Young people, it’s wonderful to be young! Enjoy every minute of it. Do everything you want to do; take it all in. But remember that you must give an account to God for everything you do. [10]So refuse to worry, and keep your body healthy. But remember that youth, with a whole life before you, is meaningless. Job's responds was: Job 19:25-28 25 But as for me I know that my Redeemer liveth, And at last he will stand up upon the earth: 26 And after my skin, (even) this (body), is destroyed, Then without my flesh shall I see God; 27 Whom I, even I, shall see, on my side, And mine eyes shall behold, and not as a stranger. My heart is consumed within me. ASV Therefore we should also learn from Job to; 1. Acknowledge that the Lord is in total control of your life. 2. Be responsible for your life through praying and planning. 3. Continually trust the lord 4. Be eschatologically-mnded. Always remember and consider the end of time. 5. Worship Him alone no matter what. No matter what happens, God still reigns and deserve our worship. This should be the Christian's response in a world of different voices. (Pastor Samuel Gakpetor)
